Rev. Sam Park
Pastor Sam has been leading AUMC since 2006.
He is a gifted spiritual leader and is mission minded with great compassion. He always reaches out to people in the community who are suffering and are going through difficulties to be there for them and to support them in all possible ways. He has been the longest serving Pastor in the history of AUMC. He is also a Professor of Preaching and Director of Doctor of Ministry Program at the Berkeley School of Theology.
Jacqueline Nelson-Sharpe
Greetings. Jacqueline Nelson-Sharpe is the newly elected Lay Leader for Albany United Methodist Church (AUMC). A native of Berkeley, California, she was raised in the Methodist Church, fostering a strong foundation in faith from a young age. Throughout her spiritual journey, she has served as a Greeter, Sunday School Teacher, Christian Education Director,and an assistant to the Pastor and their spouse. Ms. Nelson-Sharpe feels humbled and excited to serve as Lay Leader for AUMC, where Reverend Sam Sangyil leads as a loving and caring Pastor. She recognizes the strong spirit of love and care within the AUMC community, reflecting the Fruit of the Spirit. Ms. Nelson-Sharpe feels blessed to be a part of this community. Anne Hause
Anne has been the Outreach Coordinator at Albany UMC for over 10 years. Her passion for helping others was influenced by her father’s example. This led her to a career in Social Work of 37 years. It is her joy to connect people in the congregation to volunteer opportunities. Anne’s goal is to share the love of God in the community by being actively involved in helping others. She strives to offer outreach activities for all ages and stages of life so that we may follow Jesus’ example.
Kathia Morales
Kathia is a So-cal native and has been a part of AUMC since 2017. Kathia is AUMC's Pre-K Sunday School teacher and loves sharing the gospel with AUMC's tiny tots through song and music. On her spare time, she enjoys traveling, trying new foods, and spending time with friends and family.
Ester Asuelo
Ester has been serving AUMC as the pianist/organist since 2014. She aims to support the congregation in praising and connecting with God through music. During the week, she works as Public Health Nurse for Alameda County and is a mother to 2 beautiful daughters. In her free time, she enjoys spending quality time with family and traveling the world with her husband/High school sweetheart, Brian.
Su Lee
Su has been serving AUMC as a pianist since 2018. Her enthusiastic music playing in praise of God just lifts the presence of God. She arranges music in different ways both traditional and contemporary. She also conducts special Choir performances incorporating various kinds of instruments. She has earned Doctor of Musical Arts at the Boston University and has teaching experience in colleges.
Philip Choi
Philip works with church leadership and connects with district superintendent and bishop related to the appointed leadership of the congregation. He works with the pastor on the strategy of the church. He also handles technology support in various areas like audio, network & communications. He is skilled at identifying various technological needs of the church and also helps address the technological challenges.
Fred Ballesteros
Fred has been serving at the AUMC for the past 10 years. As a Chair for the Trustees, he dedicates a lot of his time to maintain and keep the building in a good shape. He is a very handy person, and he is always willing to help with anything that needs attention in the Church building.
Signe Salib
Signe has been a long-time member of AUMC. She has been a very faithful and a caring church member all these years. She serves as a treasurer of the church and handles the rentals of church facilities. In her free time, she enjoys babysitting her grandchildren.
Alan Helmick
& Full Stack Developer
Alan has attended church for his entire life. As a Choirboy he read the Scriptures before the Pastoral reading every Sunday for 3 years. After graduating from 6 years of Catholic School Alan moved on from Catholic to Methodist and has found a home for the last 1+ years at Albany United Methodist. Alan enjoys being on hand to fix doors and toilets and the website, being an all around engineer. He is always willing to help with anything that needs attention at the Church.
